Social Studies 10
Up one levelSocial Studies 10 looks at the birth of Canada as a nation and how it developed into its modern entity. We will take an in depth look at Western development and consider the many diverse factors that help define Canada (culture and society, geography, history, politics, economy). Students will be expected to integrate a variety of information and media sources. Even though HORIZONS: Canada moves west is the prime textbook resource, students will need t utilize library resources, the Internet, various software, and additional handouts, in order to obtain a fuller understanding of the concepts and skills. Social studies 10 does not simply focus on obtaining knowledge, but it challenges students to apply knowledge, develop critical thinking, and refine useful life skills (mapping, debating, research, economic understanding, political education).
